SHAWNASSEY BROOKS

Shawnassey is a corporate, intellectual property, and entertainment attorney who has represented a variety of clients, including multi-platinum recording artists, Grammy award winning performers, recording studios, and songwriters, independent record labels and book publishers, authors and screenwriters, major network reality television performers, film and television production companies and more. Her practice focuses on negotiating contracts, corporate transactions, and intellectual property registration/prosecution and licensing. She regularly manages copyright and trademark portfolios, including prosecution, maintenance and protection of properties. She has assisted in all aspects of many projects, including book launches, major concerts, music videos and independent films, from concept, budgeting, funding, and implementation to subsequent commercial release, retail distribution, media campaigns, and backend accounting. Her practice has given her the opportunity to represent and interact with some of the most recognizable personalities and media outlets in the world.

Shawnassey received her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of South Alabama and her J.D. (Summa Cum Laude) from Mississippi College School of Law.

She has been credited for contributions to several reality television shows and has provided support services for talent on many more. Representative shows include: Belle Collective (OWN); Last Chance U (Netflix Original); Small Town, Big Mayor (UPtv); and Spirits of Atlanta (WEtv).

She co-authored “Entertainment Law for the General Practitioner," published by ABA Publishing. She served as panelist for Crossroads Film Festival, Oxford Film Festival, and the Mississippi Film Summit and frequently teaches seminars on industry topics. She has also taught courses in Entertainment Law, Counseling and Negotiations and Entertainment Business.

Shawnassey is licensed to practice in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi and works in Mobile, Alabama.
